WHY GIVING MATTERS

As school districts throughout the state are painfully aware, per student spending in California is well below the amount necessary to ensure the high-quality, well-rounded education for our students. According to Education Week, California spends nearly $2000 less per student than the US average -- in fact, the state ranks 46th in regionally adjusted spending per student. Worse still, due to policies that were enacted thirty years ago, San Carlos receives even less funding per student that many other school districts in our region.

How do communities make sure their schools have the resources they need when state funding is so limited? Throughout California, the answer is clear: communities need to come together and support their local educational foundations and their parcel tax initiatives.

Excellent schools are a top priority in San Carlos. We want all our children to have the opportunities to learn and achieve every year, no matter what happens with the state budget. By donating to the SCEF, you ensure that programs such as physical education, libraries, music, science, technology, counseling and literacy continue to be an integral part of the school curriculum.
